Infrared Sauna

Saunas have been used as a healing therapy for 1000s of years. Infrared Saunas differ from traditional saunas in that infrared light is used to heat your body not the air. The lights penetrate an 1 1/2 into the skin, muscles, and joints creating a deep detoxification at the cellular level.

Tonic Trails uses a Sunlighten full spectrum, medical grade sauna. The three wavelengths (near, mid, and far) permeate the body at various depths and provide different healing benefits. Near- infrared promotes wound healing, cell health, and skin rejuvenation. Mid-infrared improves circulation, aids in pain relief, and weight loss. Far-infrared supports detoxification and blood pressure balance.

Using a sauna that provides all 3 wavelengths will provide the most benefit to the bodies healing process.

Infrared Sauna Protocol

Infrared sauna at Tonic Trails wellnessYou do not have to be a massage client to utilize the infrared sauna, but you do need to call to schedule your first appointment. If you are an existing client and have already used the sauna please feel free to book online. It is recommended to sit in the sauna 2-3 times a week for 4-6 weeks when working through specific issues. IR therapy is a great healing tool to add to your massage as it will help flush out the toxins released during treatment. If you have a recent injury it is advised to wait for 2 days before using the sauna. Utilizing the sauna after a hard workout or competition will help speed up muscle recovery. For the brave, a quick dip in the creek after your session is a great way to go! Prior to your session please increase your water intake as this will help you sweat and not become dehydrated. Please bring a large bottle of water to drink during and after your session. Towels are provided as well as a cool cloth to rinse off the sweat after your session. There is a stereo in the sauna that can be paired with an electronic device to play music, podcasts, etc. You can bring your phone into the sauna, but it is does start to slow down when using the higher temperatures. Some folks bring a book and others sit still and breathe into it. Whatever you choose to do with your time, there is no doubt you will enjoy the healing benefits of IR therapy. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email.
